| Indian Education Summit opens in Rapid City : - September 20, 2008 (Delhi) - The State Department of Education holds the conference each year to address issues and needs surrounding Indian education.This year's keynote speaker was Harold Ott, the Executive Director of the Idaho Rural Schools Association. Ott created a system within the schools that raised the proficiency of students from as low as 15 to 30-percent to as high as 80 to 100-percent. Ott says in his system, teachers met monthly to go over their goals in reading and math.The teachers would also meet with students to discuss what was being done right, and what they could improve on in the classroom. | ||||||||||||
